Cervical Smears
When am I due?
If you are between the ages of 25 to 49, you need your test every 3 years. If you are between the ages of 50 to 64, you need your test every 5 years
Cervical screening is a national screening programme aimed at detecting pre-cancerous changes at the cervix. If abnormalities are detected, treatment can be initiated and thereby help prevent cancer.
The practice will contact you to inform you if you are overdue for your cervical smear test. If you are due for your smear, please contact our practice to book an appointment with our Practice Nurse.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the result of damage to the lungs caused by smoking. We also provide clinics to assess the damage and initiate appropriate treatment and support to patients who suffer with COPD.
We have access to pulmonary rehabilitation courses which take patients through a 6 week programme to maintain good lung function which is important with this condition. We also run a virtual clinic which means we can request more specialised advice and management for our patients if necessary by working with the respiratory team at St.Thomas Hospital.

NHS Health Checks
Between the ages of 40 to 74 years old?
We provide cardiovascular disease risk checks which involve taking a history to assess your risk, measuring your blood pressure and weight, and usually arranging a blood test to check for cholesterol level and diabetes. We are then able to offer advice and treatment for diet, smoking, alcohol consumption and exercise which are all part of living healthily.
